Biography
Born and raised in the SF Bay Area, Ariana Siguenza focuses on conceptual, fine-art photography. Her work can be categorized as surrealist and conceptual, working with deeply personal topics that are still relatable to the general viewer. She uses her art as a method of therapy, by which she can address her own life experiences and their long-term effects. As a result, Ariana has modeled her creative process around her life and all of the tragedy and beauty that it encompasses.
Ariana prefers to communicate images through digital color photography as she finds it better displays her thoughts, concepts, and creative desires. It is only with certain, more serious, subjects that she chooses to create black-and-white photographs because color would not do the subject nor her artwork justice.
Her long-standing background in dance has allowed her to find opportunities to express her creativity by photographing dance performances and studio sessions. This history has allowed Ariana the chance to combine both of her passions in a way that helps further both career paths.
Additionally, she has found creativity in nature photography that features her family pets and the landscapes surrounding her. She also finds joy in creating portraits for friends, family and clients alike.
Artist Statement
I exist as an artist, in practically everything that I do. As I’ve developed my skill set, photography has proven to be the medium by which I can most effectively express myself. I create work as a conceptual fine art photographer, choosing to work with deeply personal topics that are still relatable to my viewers in general. I’ve chosen to use the creative process of my works as a method of therapy, by which I’m able to address my life experiences and how they’ve affected me long-term. My works reveal my experiences of fear and love, of sadness and happiness; emotions that we all possess. Emotions and feelings are the platform on which my art stands and it is my hope that my works will continue to convey and invoke these things.
I prefer to communicate my images through digital color photography as I feel it better communicates my thoughts, concepts, and desires. It is only with certain, more serious, subject matters that I choose to create black-and-white photographs because I find that color would not do the subject or my artworks any justice.
While I prefer to work in this realm, I’ve experienced a sense of creative license with nature and commercial portrait photography. This has allowed me to grow as a professional artist in more ways than one.
